Pedestrian Hit and Killed in Albemarle County Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A woman in Albemarle County was hit by a van and lost her life due to the collision. The victim was a 75-year-old woman named Dolores Kostelni of Lexington. She was reportedly walking across a street in Albemarle County when a van failed to yield and hit her, according to nbc29.com.

The tragic accident occurred at the intersection of Putt-Putt Place and East Rio Road. The at-fault driver has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian.

The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

Our deepest sympathies go out to the Kostelni family. Losing a loved one is never easy, but the pain is made even worse when the loss is sudden and unexpected.

The family should consider speaking with a Virginia wrongful death lawyer to discuss their legal options. Just because the at-fault driver is facing criminal charges does not preclude the family from seeking some semblance of justice through the civil court system.
