Pickup Truck Roofs Must Be Stronger | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Tragedy, fortunately, did not occur when a pickup truck rolled over on I-64 in Hampton on Monday morning. The accident led my colleague to think about how drivers and passengers are protected when pickups tip or flip. As Rick Shapiro reports in his latest post to the Virginia Beach Injuryboard, victims of rollover accidents cannot rely on their roofs. Federal standards for pickup roof strength are too low. While a proposal to raise the standards is being considered, it may also usher in limits product liability lawsuits.
