Pilot Perishes while Flying Over the Atlantic Ocean | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

It is now summer time and many Virginia Beach residents are boarding planes to head to various vacation spots.  Before the plane takes off, we are given the emergency safety instructions by the flight attendants who line the aisles.  Although some passengers may worry that a malfunction with the plane may occur, few worry about something happening to their pilot mid-flight.

The only hint that passengers had that there was a problem on their Continental flight was when the pilot requested a doctor over the intercom.  Business continued as usual, however, as flight attendants tended to the customers who were trying to entertain themselves with movies and reading material.  Meanwhile, the pilot died of a “suspected heart attack” and the two copilots had to finish the flight.
