Reckless Teenagers Chased by Police Cause 3 Highway Car Crashes on I-664

Two teens caused quite a bit of mayhem as they evaded police on Interstate 664 (I-664) in Newport News, Virginia (VA) Wednesday evening. As the teen driver was pursued by authorities, they were involved in three car crashes along the way.

Reports indicate the 15-year old driver and 17-year-old passenger stole a silver Chrysler that matched the description of a vehicle that was used in a Newport News shooting the previous evening.  Officers chased the vehicle down I-664 before they were able to successfully end the chase near Pughsville Road in Chesapeake, VA.

Luckily, nobody was injured in any of the three car wrecks caused by the unlicensed teen driver. However, many drivers are not so lucky.  The careless driving behavior of many teenagers presents a dangerous risk to other drivers on the road. In a flash, you could wind up colliding with a reckless teen driver and suffering a serious injury like a broken neck, torn muscle, severed limb, or traumatic brain injury.

Charges have been filed against the teens including possession of marijuana, reckless driving, theft of a vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the Virginian-Pilot.

This incident highlights the importance of driving with an awareness of the dangers around you. You always have to be on guard as evident by this incident. One moment, traffic can be flowing smoothly and then havoc ensues with reckless teens displaying a complete disregard for the safety of other vehicles on the road while evading police.
