Residents Near Rail Yards May Face Same Health Risks as Railroad Employees | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

In his latest post to our firm’s Railroad Accident/FELA Lawyers Blog, my colleague Rick Shapiro welcomes a study of the health effects of chronic diesel fume exposure for people who live near a large BNSF rail yard in California (CA). Rick suspects the researchers will find that living within feet of a rail yard — whether operated by Amtrak, BNSF, CSX, Norfolk Southern or Union Pacific — poses as great a risk for cancer and lung disease as does being a railroad employee.
