Brittney Grose Scott of Grundy, Virginia (VA), was a passenger in a pickup truck that suddenly ran off the side of the road on Route 712 in Dickenson County. The truck overturned and Ms. Scott was thrown from the truck. Tragically, Ms. Scott died from her injuries. She was only 24 years old.
The at-fault driver was reportedly drinking and driving and now faces charges of driving under the influence and aggravated manslaughter, according to tricities.com.
My deepest condolences go out to the Scott family. Losing someone close to you is always heartbreaking, but it's even more tragic when the lost loved one is so young and had their whole life ahead of them.
Reading about these types of drunk driving accidents is so frustrating because there's a good chance this tragic wrongful death wreck could have been prevented. If only the at-fault driver had been more responsible and not gotten behind the wheel while drunk, maybe Ms. Scott would still be alive today.
