A vehicle traveling over 100 mph ran a red light and wound up causing a horrific accident in Jacksonville, North Carolina (NC). Reports indicate that a Hyundai and Toyota crashed into each other after the driver of the Hyundai ran a red light at the intersection of U.S. 258 and NC 53. The impact of the crash was so severe that it propelled the Hyundai into a utility pole splitting the Hyundai in half. The Toyota overturned several times, killing the driver. Her name was Rachel Delisle (named in WBTW News 13 article). Mrs. Delisle’s infant child was in the vehicle as well, but, fortunately, the child survived. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Delisle family. Losing a loved one is always heartbreaking, but the pain is made that much worse when your loved one is taken from you unexpectedly. It also has to be infuriating to know that a child is going to grow up without a mother because of a person’s reckless decision to drive erratically and without regard for public safety. Witnesses told police that the Hyundai was traveling over 100 mph while weaving in and out of traffic. This reckless behavior resulted in the vehicle crossing over the bypass in the wrong direction and running a red light.
