A car sat waiting for the train to pass when a Jeep rear-ended the car, propelling both vehicles onto the tracks. According to WBTV, a total of seven people were taken to the hospital, including the train’s engineer.

This accident illustrates the importance of exercising caution and diligence when approaching a rail crossing. It appears the driver of the Jeep failed to exercise a reasonable level of caution and diligence, which led to innocent people suffering injuries. Was the Jeep driver distracted? Intoxicated? We will have to wait and see what the accident report reveals.

The injured driver and passengers in the car should speak with a personal injury lawyer in North Carolina to discuss their legal options. They may have grounds for filing civil lawsuits against the Jeep’s driver by arguing that his actions were the proximate cause of the crash.
