Teenager Steals Police Car, Crashes Into House, Injuring Two | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A teenager in Jacksonville, North Carolina stole a police car after he was arrested, and drove off. He crashed the police car into a house in the town and injured an elderly woman and a police officer.

The incident happened on Pine Valley Road. The old woman in the house was trapped under debris and had to be pulled out by the police.

The media reported that the 17 year-old boy was originally arrested for another crime earlier that morning. However, he squeezed through the partition and into the front seat. Although he was handcuffed, he kicked the gear shift into drive and drove off.

The teen is facing several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, and larceny.

North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyer Perspective:

It is a relief that there were not more serious injuries in this alleged crime. We hope that both injured parties recover quickly from their injuries.

A North Carolina personal injury lawyer could be helpful to the elderly woman in this case, as a civil lawsuit could be filed against the driver. She should be eligible for financial compensation for her injuries and medical expenses.
