Three Car Accident in VA Causes Fire | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

According to State Police in Bedford County, Virginia (VA), a serious accident on Sunday night, January 23rd, 2011, involved three separate cars, one of which caught fire.

The crash occurred at 6 p.m. on Route 24, approximately half a mile east of Dickerson Mill Road.

One driver, a 21 year-old man, was heading west when he tried to pass two cars. He struck a car heading east head-on. That car, containing a 26 year-old woman, overturned. The driver was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The first driver then hit another driver in the west lane driven by a 35 year-old female. That car overturned and caught fire-the victim was also taken to the hospital. The conditions of the victims were unknown at press time. The first driver was charged with reckless driving, and the roadway was closed for an hour to clear the crash.

Our thoughts are with the victims during this stressful time. What a terrifying experience it is to be in a fiery car accident, especially one where your vehicle flips over! We can only hope that the ladies who were taken to the hospital heal as quickly as possible.

Whenever trying to pass a car in another lane, allow plenty of space and time to do so. Do not pass if the other car is going too quickly for you to move ahead safely. Better to arrive a few minutes late to your destination than to never arrive there at all.

If you think you may have a claim against someone because their reckless driving harmed you, contact a qualified attorney as soon as you can.
