A Virginia man with a revoke driver’s license is facing a death by motor vehicle charge after he crashed into a tractor trailer and killed the driver.
The wreck occurred Sept. 21 in Cedar Grove NC, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The car driver was also charged with running a stop sign and driving with a revoked license.
The state police stated that the car driver failed to stop at the NC 86 intersection, and then slammed into the right side of the truck cab. This caused the truck to veer off the road and roll. It then caught fire. The truck driver was trapped in the cab and died in the resulting fire. Police are still trying to identify the driver with dental records.
Our Virginia car and truck accident legal team sends our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased truck driver. We always regret to see drivers failing to use our roads safely and killing innocent people.
It appears likely that the car driver, if convicted, will do considerable jail time, but this will not bring back the truck driver to his family. One option to obtain additional justice in this case is to file a personal injury lawsuit against the car driver. By filing such a lawsuit, the family can potentially recover a large settlement, which is only fair considering the fact that his family is going to lose out from years of the truck driver’s earnings.
The family also will suffer much emotional distress, and the driver’s children will be deprived of the love and care of their father.
Our team of personal injury attorneys has a successful record of sizable settlements in car and truck accidents, such as this one for $11 million.
