Two People Killed in Tragic Car Accident on Highway 76 | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Great Pee Dee River Bridge on U.S. Highway 76 was closed off for hours after a major traffic accident killed two people and many others were seriously injured, according to SCnow.com. The accident included an 18-wheeler, a dump truck, and two cars collided on the bridge.

The victims were Curtis L. Johnson of Hartwell, Georgia (GA) and his daughter 13-year-old Crystal A. Johnson. My deepest condolences go out to their friends and family.

Highway 76 is one of the most heavily traveled tourism routes to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina (SC). As an injury lawyer who regularly represents people involved in car accidents in North and South Carolina, I know these types of accidents are always terrible, but it’s especially tragic when a young person is taken from us too soon.

Ninety people have been involved in fatal car accidents from 1975 to 2008 in South Carolina (SC). Thirty-one people have been in deadly car accidents in Cheraw, South Carolina where the Great Pee Dee River Bridge is located.
