Two People Suffer Injuries After Garbage Truck Rear Ends Two Vehicles in Lynchburg | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two cars arrived at a traffic light on Leesville Road in Lynchburg, Virginia (VA). That’s when havoc ensued. A private garbage truck came barreling down the same road but failed to stop in time and wound up rear-ending both vehicles.  The drivers of the two cars stopped at the light suffered injuries and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.  It’s an unfortunate fact that when a large vehicle like a garbage truck hits a smaller vehicle, the damage can be extensive and the smaller vehicle usually bears the brunt of the damage.  Charges are pending against the truck driver, according to wset.com. The exact cause of this truck wreck remains unknown (as of the date of this posting). Was the driver distracted? Were they intoxicated? Was there a mechanical problem? We will have to wait and see what the incident report reveals. Though, the fact that police are planning to press charges usually means that the driver was operating the vehicle in an illegal manner.
