Comments (0)

Two young men were killed and another one seriously injured in a car crash that occurred in the 1700 block of Union Cross Road north of High Point Road and Highway 311 in Kernersville, N.C.

Killed in the crash were the 18 year-old driver, who was a student at East Forysyth High School, and his 20 year-old passenger. Both victims were from Kernersville. Police say they were killed instantly in the crash. A second passenger, an 18 year-old man who is also a student at East Forysyth, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash. He is also from Kernersville.

According to police reports, the three men were in a Ford Mustang that was driving in a construction zone area on the road. Witnesses said the car was being driven on the wrong side of the road and smashed into several parked cars. Police are still investigating the car accident and have not released any other details of the crash, including what may have caused the driver to lose control of the car.

This fatal car crash brings the number of people killed in Winston-Salem this year to 14. Too often, these tragic crashes are caused by negligent drivers who choose to disobey speed limits and drive recklessly. There are also too many drivers who decide to get behind the wheel of a car when they have been drinking or high on drugs. Regardless of the reasons why, the drivers’ wrong choices leave families without their loved ones. For victims of these accidents who are lucky enough to survive a crash, many face a long road to recovery and healing, and too often are left with life-long disabilities.
