Chesapeake, VA Teen Killed by Man in SUV Driving the Wrong Way | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

On June 23, 201, according to the Virginian-Pilot, family and friends gathered remember the life of a teen who had died unexpectedly earlier in the week at age 18 in a head-on collision on Moses Grandy Trail in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA). The young woman’s death reminded everyone to live life, achieve goals, and appreciate those around them.

The accident was caused by a 64-year-old wrong-way driver in an SUV who also lost his life in the collision. Turning the teen’s death to a positive moment, hundreds gathered at a candlelight vigil outside of Grassfield High School, from which the young woman had recently graduated. Meemories shared included the time the young woman inspired a cousin to overcome a fear of heights by running up Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach, VA, and when she gave pep talks to her softball teammates. The teen desired to study nursing at Norfolk State University, where she had athletic and academic scholarships. She hoped to become an obstetrician.
