Virginia Beach Hit and Run Accident Results in Injuries to 11-Year-Old-Girl | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

An 11-year-old girl was crossing the street at the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway and Crimson Holly Lane in Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) when she was hit by a mini-van.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the driver of the minivan did not stop to help the young girl, according to wavy.com. The driver bolted and left the girl in the middle of the street to fend for herself.

Fortunately, the at-fault driver was apprehended by the police. Sadly, the young girl suffered serious injuries in this hit and run car accident. Specifically, she suffered head injuries that could take weeks to heal from, if ever.

It is so frustrating to hear about these types of accidents. There is no excuse to hit someone and drive away. It is simply inhumane. When a driver does this, they are basically leaving the victim for dead since there is no guarantee someone will come to the victim’s aid or an ambulance will arrive in time. It is both morally wrong and illegal too.

Here is the Virginia hit and run law. When a driver hits a person and they suffer an injury, the at-fault driver may be charged with a Class 5 felony which is punishable by at least one year in prison and/or a $2,500 fine.
