State police in Virginia have been questioning a 33 year-old suspect from Campbell County, Virginia regarding an accident August 10 in Pittsylvania County that killed two teenagers.

The driver fled the scene by foot and was located in a hospital a few hours later. Police state that the man may have been drunk. No arrests have been made, nor charges filed.

Family of the lost teens stated that both young men died at the scene. One of them was going to start his first day of his junior year in high school the next day. The other had graduated from that high school last May.

The state police stated that the two boys had two other passengers in their Ford Focus, which was hit head on by a Buick.

Police stated that high speed was a factor in the crash.

This tragic accident is another grim reminder of the dangers of drinking alcohol and driving. Consuming alcohol impairs our judgment and slows reaction times. This can lead to tragic accidents that kill innocent people and ruin the lives of those charged with the crime. Always remember: Never get behind the wheel of a vehicle after you have had even a sip of an alcoholic beverage.
