Motorcycle Accident in West Virginia Claims Woman’s Life | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

According to a West Virginia (WV) State Police news release, an Inwood woman was killed in a motorcycle accident late Thursday night, April 14, 2011.

The WV motor vehicle accident occurred on U.S. 11/Winchester Avenue in Darkesville.The 43-year-old passenger on a motorcycle  was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The driver of the motorcycle, whose age was not available, was found hiding neara residence off Sir Washington Street after fleeing the scene on foot. Troopers later found him, and he was transported by EMS to the Eastern Regional Airport, then airlifted to INOVA Fairfax, Virginia (VA), Hospital for medical treatment.

A senior trooper found the unresponsive motorcycle passenger lying near a telephone pole. It appears that the motorcycle was heading south on U.S. 11 when it ran off the right side of the road, then hit a utility pole and a parked car. The accident still is being investigated, with further details to be released later by State Police.
