Comments (0)

What Happened:

A woman near Raleigh, North Carolina was driving an SUV on Labrador Drive in a subdivision when she ran off the road and smashed into a tree. Her 21 year-old passenger was killed.

North Carolina police stated that the SUV was going well over the posted speed of 25 MPH and that the driver had been drinking.

The driver of the SUV has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while license revoked, and driving while impaired. Witnesses stated that the driver and passenger had left a party in the neighborhood a few minutes before. There also was some sort of fight involving the driver at that party.

The driver was arrested at the hospital, and she also was charged with misdemeanor assault for the incident at the party.

North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyer Perspective:

This tragic accident is another sad reminder of the terrible dangers of driving while intoxicated. No one should ever drink and then get behind the wheel. The driver in this case is now facing years in state prison and a shattered life, and her friend is dead. Our hearts go out to the family of the victim.

A consultation with a North Carolina personal injury attorney could be helpful to the family of the victim. A wrongful death civil lawsuit could bring them some small sense of justice, and they could recover financial damages for their pain and suffering.
