Woman Charged With Felony in Fatal North Carolina Crash | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A woman near Raleigh, North Carolina was driving an SUV on Labrador Drive in a subdivision when she ran off the road and smashed into a tree. Her 21 year-old passenger was killed.

North Carolina police stated that the SUV was going well over the posted speed of 25 MPH and that the driver had been drinking.

The driver of the SUV has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while license revoked, and driving while impaired. Witnesses stated that the driver and passenger had left a party in the neighborhood a few minutes before. There also was some sort of fight involving the driver at that party.

The driver was arrested at the hospital, and she also was charged with misdemeanor assault for the incident at the party.
