Woman Dies from Two Vehicle Wreck in Benson, North Carolina | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Recently, a passenger was killed when she was involved in a two vehicle collision in Benson, North Carolina. Elizabeth Ann Mitchell, 24, of Selma, North Carolina died in the fatal crash that occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Raleigh road just north of Benson. According to authorities, a southbound vehicle crossed the center line and slammed into the victim’s car.

Elizabeth’s husband, Troy Mitchell, was at the wheel when they were struck. The wreck happened around 4:30 in the afternoon, shortly before rush hour. Although the couple was taken by ambulance to Wake Med, sadly Elizabeth did not survive. Troy was listed in good condition and state troopers are preparing charges against the other driver with Johnston County’s District Attorney’s office.

Even though we do not know the victim or her family, our sympathy and thoughts are with the victim’s family in this time of grief.  I am frequently reminded of just how fortunate time together with a loved is. The unfortunate truth is that innocent people are hurt, harmed, or even killed on a daily basis on streets and byways that might seem so familiar and benign to us. I hope that you and your family stay safe while driving. Our highways and roads are, statistically, much more hazardous then you might actually know.
