A woman in Dayton OH is dead after she was in a crash with a dump truck in Wayne County. The woman was driving a pickup truck when she was hit by the truck at Ohio 73 and Jacksonburg Road.
Local police stated that the initial inquiry showed that the dump truck ran a stop sign and ran into the pickup truck. The driver of the dump truck was injured and taken to a local hospital.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in this truck accident, but as personal injury lawyers, we see many truck accidents that take lives. In our case work involving truck accidents, we always stress that truck drivers have a higher level of responsibility; after all, they hold a commercial driver’s license.
In a $400,000 settlement we handled a few years ago, our client died when a truck driver lost control of his vehicle on black ice. Even though the trucker’s insurance company vigorously defended their client, we were able to show that the truck driver had failed to live up to his higher obligations as a commercial driver.
