Woman Killed and Soccer Star Injured in Severe Car Accident on GW Parkway | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A horrific car accident, involving an SUV being broken in half, occurred on George Washington Parkway at Boundary Channel Drive.

One of the individuals involved was Team U.S.A. soccer player Charlie Davies. He suffered a lacerated bladder and fractures to the tibia and femur bones in his right leg, along with facial fractures and a left elbow fracture, according to NBC Washington. Hopefully, Davies will be able to make a full recovery, but there is talk his career could be over.

Even more tragic was the death of Ashley Roberta of Phoenix, Maryland (MD).She died at the scene of the horrific accident. Ashley was just 22 years old. My deepest condolences go out to Ms. Robertas friends and family. Losing someone so young is always terrible.

It’s unclear what caused the accident, but the ramifications are crystal clear. “The car was pretty much split in half,” said David Schlosser, a police spokesman. Some people may be surprised by the severity of this accident since it involved just one car, but nearly 60 percent of all car accidents involve a single vehicle.

As an injury lawyer who works for a firm thats handled hundreds of car accident cases
, I know what the next steps may entail for Davies. In an accident involving one car, the passengers can typically make a claim if the fault can ve attributed to the driver. However, the passeger’s attorney does not  need to seek anything from the driver, only their insurer.

Nevertheless, this accident illustrates the devastating effects of a serious car crash. The family and friends of Ashley Roberta will be forced to cope with this terrible loss and Charlie Davies may not be able to continue his prosperous career as a soccer player. Regardless of what happens next, their lives will be changed forever.
