Young Boy Killed in Rockingham Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A grandmother was traveling down Highway 74 in Rockingham, North Carolina (NC) with her 9-year-old grandson when tragedy struck. Another car, who may have been racing, wound up crashing into the grandmother’s vehicle, according to reflector.com.

The impact of the crash was severe and the grandmother had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries. If that wasn’t bad enough, the 9-year-old boy died in the wreck.

The other driver in the crash hasn’t been charged, as of the date of this posting, but that may change if it is verified that they were involved in racing when this terrible crash occurred.

The North Carolina Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

The family of the victim should consider speaking to a North Carolina wrongful death attorney to discuss their legal options. They may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver, especially if the driver was engaged in racing. Deciding to race on a road not sanctioned for such activity could constitute reckless driving and gross negligence.
