Judge awards three times the insurance company's offer on case of disputed liability

I was extremely pleased today when a Norfolk General District Court Judge awarded my client three times the insurance company's offer. This case arose out of an accident that occurred at a frequently traveled intersection in Norfolk, Virginia. My client was stopped at a red light and when the light turned to green she entered the intersection and was t-boned by the defendant. The defendant claimed she too had the green light.

Case Plan- I planned to make sure the Judge understood that my client was stopped before the accident occurred. I argued that it was highly unlikely that my client would have chosen to enter the intersection after stopping on a red light and more likely that the defendant tried to run through a yellow light. The Judge agreed and found for my client.

It is important that when you hire a personal injury lawyer you choose someone who will follow your case to trial. This case was a messy one from the start. Generally cases of disputed liability do not do very well in front of Judges or juries. However, I beleived that my client was not at fault and was willing to go the distance to prove it. While my firm handles many million dollar verdicts and settlements each year, we also handle smaller cases. Each of the attorneys gives the same attention to both types of cases.
