Multiple car accidents cause 2 mile backup in Chesapeake

There were multiple car crashes on Hampton Roads highways this evening. The accidents caused a 2 mile backup during rush hour. The sudden thunderstorms in Hampton Roads this evening most likely led to many of the accidents on the roads. In Chesapeake, one accident involved nearly a dozen vehicles. Virginia State Police reported that they were working on 10 accidents and had 11 more to investigate. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, there was an overturned tractor trailer which had blocked all lanes of traffic on I-64 East. Be careful if you are traveling during the storms.
