Posted on May 16, 2011

A Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) woman lost her life in a car accident in Elizabeth City, North Carolina (NC). The young woman was turning onto Peartree Road from Pitts Chapel Road when a pickup truck slammed into the driver's side door, according to WAVY.com.

The victim was taken to Albemarle Hospital in an ambulance and was then flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she died due to her injuries. She was only 19 years old.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim's family. It is a heartbreaking experience to lose someone you love, and it's especially gut-wrenching when the victim is so young and had their whole lives ahead of them. The young girl was a student at Tidewater Community College and a 2010 graduate of Kellam High School.

The exact details of the Elizabeth City car-truck accident remain unknown. Police do know that alcohol and speed were not factors in the wreck.
