New Kent County Wreck Involving Tractor-Trailers Results in Death of Car Driver | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

When a serious auto accident occurs, the ramifications are widespread. In the blink of an eye, multiple lives are turned upside down due to loved ones suffering severe injuries, or passing away. Such was the result in a five-vehicle wreck on Interstate 64 (I-64) in New Kent County, Virginia (VA). This horrific wreck resulted in the death of a Richmond woman named Jennifer P. Wilson (name released and published on the Virginian Pilot).  The wreck involved two tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles. The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes at exit 211, according to the Virginian Pilot. News reports indicate that an eastbound tractor-trailer crashed into a pickup truck causing it to spin around and hit a van. This caused the pickup truck to run off to the right shoulder as the van collided with the tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer then hit a Chevrolet work truck and a Pontiac, which was being operated by Mrs. Wilson. The driver of the Chevrolet work truck was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries. As mentioned above, Mrs. Wilson lost her life in the wreck.  Our deepest condolences go out to the Wilson family. Losing someone you love is always heartbreaking, but the pain is made that much worse when the loss is sudden and totally unexpected. In a moment, Mrs. Wilson was taken from her friends and family. It’s a devastating loss. The driver of the first tractor-trailer, a Conover, N.C. resident, was charged with reckless driving. Could this tragic wreck been prevented if this big rig operator had been more cautious when approaching traffic on I-64? We cannot say for sure, but it appears to be possible.
