Why Clients Choose Us

  • You went above and beyond the call of duty for an attorney.
  • I like to deal with people who are honest and who keep their word.  You are that kind of straight shooter.
  • I would recommend Mr. Shapiro and his staff to other persons who have a personal injury and need help with their situation as I did.
  • I asked a friend of mine...what attorney would he use [to handle a mesothelioma case] and he immediately said Rick Shapiro.  He called Rick on his cell phone and explained our situation and handed me the phone.  That connection to the law firm of Shapiro, Cooper, Lewis and Appleton began a relationship of trust and a sense of confidence that we had not experienced before. It was apparent to us that we had the right team fighting for our father.
  • She returned my calls promptly and everyone at the office was courteous and helpful.
  • I was really happy with the work that John Cooper did on my auto accident case.  We went to mediation and got the case resolved for a good amount which will let me do things to help my financial future like buying a house.

Information About Asbestos and Mesothelioma

On the page below you can find links to videos provided by Shapiro, Cooper Lewis & Appleton, P.C..
My name is Rick Shapiro, and along with my partners, I have represented dozens of victims of asbestos disease for over 15 years. We have helped families who have been devastated by the deadly effects of this poison dust. Many of our clients have suffered with mesothelioma, a rare and deadly form of cancer of the lung lining caused almost exclusively by asbestos.

Just how much asbestos can lodge in the lung and cause cancer or disease? Look at this small vial-even a couple fibers almost invisible to the eye in this vial can cause mesothelioma, a fatal cancer and this is why asbestos was the first toxic substance regulated by OSHA. Asbestos is found in many railroad and commercial products manufactured before the 1970s and still present in our everyday lives today.

It was used in pipe and boiler insulation, brake linings, joint compounds and sheet rock, sound proofing, protective clothing, floor and ceiling tiling, and many other common products. Asbestos dust at invisible levels can cause disease and very low exposure levels. People who have worked summer jobs using asbestos products and spouse's who laundered the work clothes of their husbands have been know to contract the disease.

Most asbestos related diseases develop at least 20 years from first exposure and are best treated if detected early. We work with some of the nations leading medical and industrial experts to develop our client's cases and to recover compensation to help rebuild their lives. Please contact us if we can assist you or a family member.
