1 Person Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash in VA | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

WATV News 10 stated that on the morning of Wednesday, January 26th, 2011, a four vehicle crash had police and emergency crews scrambling to respond. Injuries were reported for this accident taking place in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA).

Two school buses, a van, and a Honda Pilot were involved in the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Country Club Boulevard and Cedar Road at approximately 8:15 a.m. The accident appears to have been caused when the driver of one of the school buses failed to account for oncoming traffic when turning from Cedar Road onto County Club Boulevard. In an attempt to avoid the bus, the Honda driver swerved and went over a median, crashing into a van, which hit another school bus.

Although none of the students on board the bus that was hit were injured, a 17 year-old passenger in the Honda was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The victim is expected to recover. There were no students in the bus that caused the accident. The driver of that bus received a reckless driving summons, and standard operating procedure mandates that she be drug tested.

Let us hope that the injured teenager recovers quickly and easily. We also hope that the driver who was charged was not abusing substances at the time of the accident. Those who transport minors have a special duty to act responsibly: it is unfortunate that this individual chose not to do so.

Always look out for oncoming traffic when making turns in order to avoid crashes such as these. If you are injured due to another person’s reckless driving, contact an attorney as soon as possible.
