Chesapeake, VA, Personal Injury Attorney Reports: North Carolina Bus Crash Injures 14 | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Fourteen people were hurt in a late-night traffic accdent  near Winston-Salem, North Carolina (NC), when a car hit two school buses carrying members of a high school band. The car crossed into the buses’ lane before the collision and caused one bus to run off the road and hit a tree. When the car then spun out of control, it hit the second bus.

Thankfully, this crash wasn’t more severe. Buses are some of the largest vehicles on the road, and can take on more damage without harming its passengers. Still, the driver of the car was very lucky to have escaped with their life. Though buses are indeed larger than most average vehicles, many parents have complained about the lack of seat belts on school buses. One has to wonder: had there been seat belts on these buses, would there have been as many injuries?

As a car accident attorney, a few things about this crash struck me. The late hour of the accident likely played a role in the collision. Still, I will be interested to see exactly why the driver of the car lost control of their vehicle and wandered across the center lane of traffic. At the end of the day, all involved can be thankful that the crash didn’t end more tragically.
