Accident on U.S. 70 near Cove City, NC Leads to Loss of Life | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Melba Lipford of Snow Hill, North Carolina (NC), was traveling down U.S. 70 with her 5-year-old grandson when her life came to an abrupt end. A Cove City man driving a GMC Arcadia attempted to make a lane change when he hit the rear of Lipford’s Mercury Mountaineer.

The impact caused Lipford’s Mountaineer to veer off the road and it hit a tree. The fatal accident occurred between the Clarks and Tuscarora exits on U.S. 70. Lipford, who was traveling was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sun Journal.
