Attorney Explores Safety Risks of Kit-built Airplanes | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

In 2008, eighty-two people died in airplane accidents involving kit planes, according the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s safety foundation. This is why my colleague Jim Lewis decided to explore the inherent safety risks of these types of planes. The statistics are rather disturbing – 18 percent of airplane crashes involve kit-built planes, even though they only account for five percent of flight time. Check out the article to learn more.
