Chesapeake, VA Personal Injury Attorney Reports: Virginia Beach Bicyclist Injured When Hit at Intersection of Wesleyan Drive and Baker Road | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A Virginia Beach, VA bicyclist was hit by a motorist turning right onto Gaker from Wesleyan Drive and pinned under the driver’s SUV at the intersection of Wesleyan Drive and Baker Road on the night of October 16, 2011. The bicyclist wound up pinned underneath the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. There are no charges at this time, but investigation of the accident is ongoing.

The smaller size of a bicycle and the increased exposure to the rider make a collision with a vehicle especially dangerous. Bicyclists have a right to share the road, but it is important to wear protective gear like a helmet and reflective gear to alert drivers of your presence on the road.

If you’ve been hurt in a cycling accident, you should consider consulting with experienced personal injury attorneys. Your health is too valuable to risk. Even if you feel fine a few days after an accident, the long-term effects can be life-changing. Our firm, a group of personal injury lawyers, is based in Virginia Beach and we routinely drive on Wesleyan Drive and Baker Road in our daily commutes.
