Bike Rider Killed in Accident on Northampton Boulevard in Norfolk | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A tragic accident occurred on the 6000 block of Northampton Boulevard in Norfolk, Virginia (VA). A bike rider was hit by a van near the overpass with Interstate 64 (I-64). The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the bicyclist and the van were traveling eastbound on Northampton Boulevard when the accident occurred, according to hamptonroads.com. There is a bike lane on that part of Northampton Blvd.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of the bicyclist. Losing a loved one is an extremely difficult and traumatic experience. But the pain is made even worse when the loss is sudden and unexpected.

The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

The victim’s family should consider speaking with a Norfolk wrongful death lawyer to discuss their legal options. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown, but if it turns out that the van driver was negligent in operating their vehicle, then the bicyclist’s family may have grounds to seek some semblance of justice through a wrongful death claim.
