Witnesses reported that the crash occurred at mile marker 9 on Route 33 South in Stockertown. Early reports indicated that one truck may have turned in front of the other truck, but those reports are not confirmed.
The accident remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
Our team of personal injury lawyers has worked on many truck crashes over the years that could have been easily prevented if one driver had taken better care behind the wheel. In one case, our client’s vehicle skidded off the road when it hit black ice. A tractor trailer hit the same patch of black ice and the driver lost control, slamming into our client and killing him.
We successfully argued that the holder of a commercial truck driver’s license has a higher responsibility to maintain his vehicle than other motorists. The case was settled for $410,000.
We send our condolences to the family of the man who died in the above case, and implore all truck drivers to take extreme care behind the wheel.
