Charlotte Teenager Killed by Drunk Driver in Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Learning a loved one has lost his life in a car accident is always terrible, but the situation is made even worse when the victim is young and had his whole life ahead of him.

Take, for example, the car wreck that occurred on Back Creek Church Road in Charlotte, North Carolina (NC). Reports indicate an intoxicated driver crossed the center line, over-corrected, spun out of control and slammed into a tree. As a result, a teenager from Harrisburg was killed. He was only 19 years old. My deepest sympathies go out to the teenager’s family. As a mother, I don’t know what I would do if I lost my child in an unexpected, but preventable, accident. It is a pain I wish no parent had to endure, but one which far too many suffer on a daily basis.

The at-fault driver is facing charges of driving while intoxicated and felony death by motor vehicle, according to wbtv.com. I get so frustrated reading about these types of car crashes. Innocent lives are being lost every day due to irresponsible, reckless drivers.

The family should consult with a wrongful death attorney in North Carolina. In NC, and many other states, punitive damages can be pursued when the injury or loss of life was caused by a defendant’s reckless and wanton conduct.
