Chesapeake, VA Pileup Near Walmart Sends Six to Hospitals | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Six people went to hospitals after a total five cars and trucks collided on North Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA). The pileup occurred near the intersection of Walmart Way early in the afternoon of December 4, 2011, undoubtedly ruining the holiday season for some of the drivers and passengers involved in the multivehicle pileup.

Multivehicle crash in Chesapeake, VA, near Walmart on Battlefield Blvd. injures six

Neither the cause of the chain-reaction accident nor the severity of the people’s injuries have been reported, but the wreckage shown in the WAVY-TV 10 video above indicates that at least some of the accident victims face intensive medical treatments, long recoveries and large health care bills. The footage of the crash after also shows that a few of the vehicles rear-ended cars and trucks that had already wrecked.

One lesson to take from the Chesapeake pileup is that all drivers must be attuned to and prepared to react to changes in road conditions and traffic flow at all times. Probably no one would expect to encounter a major accident just outside a Walmart parking lot and access road, but that is exactly what occurred this time. When drivers could not stop in time, they found themselves also involved in, and injured by, the accident.
