Clemson Man Sustains Brain Injury In SC Pedestrian Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A 23-year-old man suffered a severe head injury on Highway 123 in Clemson, South Carolina, after he darted into heavy traffic and was struck by an SUV. Clemson Police and The Greenville News report that the young man may have been mimicking the vintage videogame “Frogger” as he tried to avoid speeding cars on the highway.

Friends and witnesses say that they were discussing the videogame, which involves successfully navigating a frog through heavy traffic and other hazards, while waiting to cross the street at a designated crosswalk. During the conversation, the young man suddenly shouted, “GO!” before running into the street and being struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Clemson Police said that the SUV that hit the pedestrian would not be cited or charged. The extent of the man’s traumatic head injury and his current hospital status are not known at this time.
