Daily Routine Leads to a Disaster | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

An everyday task for a Hampton, Virginia (VA) man, who was crossing Mallory Street and Cummings Avenue, in Hampton ended up being a disaster. The pedestrian was struck by a 1999 GMC pickup.  The motorist driving was 62 year old, William Charnock, who was charged with driving drunk and reckless driving.

Charnock did have time to correct his actions in this situation. He was said to have seen the pedestrian and swerved before he hit a pole and then struck the man.  The walker who was hit was airlifted to the hospital, by nightingale. The driver was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, as stated in a WVEC article.
