Data from the Virginia (VA) Department of Motor Vehicles revealed that 85 people lost their lives in motorcycle wrecks in 2014. This is a 4-year high for motor bike accidents. The VA DMV data also reveals the number of fatal motor bike crashes that occurred in each jurisdiction in VA. For 2014, Virginia Beach was the city with the highest number of fatal motorcycle accidents (7 total). The DMV data indicates that Virginia isn’t making strides in reducing the number of motorcycle accident deaths. Though, it’s virtually impossible to control the number of wrecks and when a wreck occurs between a large vehicle and a motorcycle, the operator of the motor bike routinely bears the brunt of the damage.
