DUI Head-On Kills Woman in Summerville, SC

Car accident injury attorneys in VAA fatal crash northwest of Charleston, South Carolina (SC), highlighted the dangers of drunk and drugged driving. The deadly wreck in the town of Summerville occurred when an intoxicated driver crossed the center line of Miles Jamison Road. The head-on collision left an innocent victim with critical injuries, to which she succumbed after being transported to a hospital.

The at-fault driver who survived the head-on collision has been charged with driving under the influence and causing a death while operating a motor vehicle. News reports do not indicate whether alcohol or narctics use led to the driver losing control of her vehicle, leaving her lane and hitting the other car.

While drunk driving incidents appear to be declining in South Carolina and across the United States, more people are reportedly taking the wheel after using drugs that can impair their judgment, slow their reflexes and make them prone to falling asleep. Research on the effects, as well as the injury and death tolls from drugged driving, remains scarce, but it should be obvious to everyone that people who have difficulty concentrating and reacting quickly to changing traffic conditions represent great risks to the themselves and others on the road.

My Carolina wrongful death attorney colleagues and I send our deepest condolences out to the friends and family members of the woman who lost her life in the Summerville DUI crash. We also want to use this opportunity to, once more, urge anyone who has drunk too much alcohol or used medications or street drugs that leave them feeling unsteady or drowsy to stay home or let someone else drive.
