VA Eastern Shore Accident Ends Tragically; Alcohol Use Suspected | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two people were injured and another two were killed in a crash on the Eastern Shore late on the night of August 1, 2011. According to the Virginian-Pilot, the car in which the four people were riding ran of VA 178 in Pungoteague and into a tree stump before flipping over. Everyone was wearing a seat belt, police reported, but authorities believe alcohol played a role in the wreck.

It’s always a tragedy when a car accident results in death, but the two surviving victims should be thankful for their lives. Our thoughts are with them and their families.

As a personal injury attorney based in Virginia Beach, VA, I’ve seen firsthand the kind of destruction even the most minor car accident can cause. With single-car collisions like this one, it can be even more confusing for investigators.

Accidents like this can occur at anytime for any reason, but the time of day is indicative of what likely occurred. Drivers are more likely to get into accidents during nighttime hours. Even the most night owlish people find it difficult to concentrate on driving when tired. Alcohol, if it did indeed play a role, certainly didn’t help the situation.
