Elon Student Suffered Spinal Cord Injury in Hit and Run Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A first-year Elon student named Toorialey Fazly had his life turned upside down after he was the victim of a hit and run accident. Mr. Fazly was riding his bike on West Labanon Avenue in Elon, North Carolina (NC) when he was hit from behind by a car. This led to Mr. Fazly being thrown from his bicycle and suffering reportedly suffering a spinal cord injury, according to myfox8.com.

Witnesses report a black sedan hit Mr. Fazly, the driver got out of the car to see Mr. Fazly lying on the ground but they did not call an ambulance or try to help him. The driver then bolted the scene of the accident.

Leaving the scene is one of the worst things an at-fault driver can do. Not only is it against the law but it inhumane. You are essentially leaving the victim for dead.

Mr. Fazly was fortunate to survive this terrible accident. In fact, police indicate the backpack he was wearing may have been the only thing that saved his life.

Unfortunately, a spinal cord injury can take months, or even years, to fully recover from. Considering the fact that Mr. Fazly is a freshman at Elon, his life and projected course of graduation could be affected due to this hit and run accident.

I hope police track down the at-fault driver so justice can be served.
