Fatal Car Wreck on Military Highway in Chesapeake, Virginia | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Brandon Drewrey was about to exit a Texaco gas station on Military Highway in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA) when a Ford-150 pickup truck suddenly swerved and hit Mr. Drewrey’s Toyota Camry. The wreck was so severe that Mr. Drewrey died at the scene, according to wtkr.com.

To the friends and family of Mr. Drewrey, I am very sorry for your loss. Any death due to an accident is terrible, but it’s especially tragic when someone who was just 31 years old was taken from us far too soon.

The details of the accident aren’t clear but the most pressing question has to be – what caused the driver of the pickup truck to veer off and slam into the Camry? Was there a mechanical issue? Was the driver intoxicated or distracted? We have to wait and see what the accident report reveals.

Sadly, Chesapeake has seen its fair share of major car crashes. In 2008, there were 2,977 car accidents resulting in 15 deaths and 1,924 injuries, according to the DMV.  In the Commonwealth as a whole, two people die and 189 people are injured every day due to car wrecks.
