The Virginia Wrongful Death Lawyers’ Perspective

Americans are looking to gas friendly mopeds and scooters as gas prices continue to rise. As more and more mopeds and scooters show up on the roads, drivers of cars and trucks need be more vigilant. One major reason is that drivers fail to see or accommodate mopeds on the road. A very common misconception by drivers is that mopeds do not belong on the road. If the highway or roadway speed limit is 35 MPH or less mopeds have the same rights and are allowed to drive just as a car would. In the same light a common misconception by moped riders is that they must adhere to the laws of operating a motorcycle on highways of 35 MPH or greater. Recently in North Carolina (NC) a moped enthusiast has addressed both misconceptions by pushing for the state to change its definition of a moped to make the road a safer place for moped riders.
