Four People Hurt, One Airlifted Following Mount Airy, N.C. Wreck

Four people were transported to the hospital following a car accident in Mount Airy, North Carolina. The accident occurred on Siloam Road between Old Creed Road and Little Mountain Church Road, in an area that locals call “Pickle Curve.”

According to the director of Surry County Emergency Services, a station wagon carrying two sisters, ages 36 and 48, their 58 year-old father and a seven year-old and 10 year-old, both children of one of the women, was driving on Siloam Road when it was hit head-on by an older model Chevrolet pickup truck carrying two men, whose ages were unknown.

Because of the damage to both vehicles sustained from the crash impact, both the female driver of the station wagon and the driver of the pickup truck had to be extricated by Mount Airy Rescue Squad. The driver of the station wagon was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Health, in Winston-Salem, where she was listed in critical but stable condition.

The other female passenger in the station wagon and both of the men in the pickup truck were all transported to Baptist Hospital, all listed in stable condition. The father and the two children were transported by ambulance to Northern Hospital of Surry County, where they were treated and released.

Although law enforcement did not release any of the victims’ names, they did state that all of the people involved were residents in the local area of where the accident occurred. The accident is currently being investigated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Once a determination is made on which driver caused the accident, the victims who were injured should consult with a North Carolina personal injury law firm, even if the driver was a friend or family member.
