Norfolk, VA Personal Injury Attorney Reports: Gloucester Teenager Killed in Boating Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A 13-year-old boy from Gloucester, Virginia (VA), was killed in an October 2010 boat accident that occurred underneath James River Bridge. Now, the operator of a Sea Tow boat involved in the crash with the recreational fishing boat in whic the tee was riding with his father has had his commercial license suspended by the U.S. Coast Guard.

USCG investigator found that the commercial boat operator failed to have a proper lookout or maintain a safe speed, according to the Daily Press. The commercial boat operator has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Unfortunately, many boating accidents in Tidewater result in serious injury or loss of life. When an accident has occurred on the water, reams of paperwork must be completed and, as mentioned, investigations must be conducted. Determing the cause of a fatal boa wreck is complicated. If family members of the victim want to pursue a wrongful death claim, they should consult with a boat accident wrongful death attorney in Virginia.
