North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyer Perspective:

Hit and run accidents are on the rise. Recent statistics on hit and run accidents shows that about four Americans are killed every day by a hit and run driver. To date this year, about 385 people have died due to hit and run drivers.

If you or a family member has been injured or killed by a hit and run driver, you should be able to get medical costs, funeral expenses and pain and suffering paid for if you have a good personal injury lawyer.

One thing to keep in mind in a hit and run accident is if your loved one is injured or killed in such a tragic event, your own car insurance will usually provide some measure of coverage. Typically, your car insurance firm needs to pay up to the total uninsured motorist insurance coverage that your policy provides.  So, even if the hit and run driver is not found or does not have insurance, most states have laws that include special uninsured motorist coverage, which is attached to every insurance policy sold.

This coverage means that your insurance must pay for medical expenses, injuries, lost wages, disfigurement and pain and suffering that was caused by the hit and run driver.
