A four-vehicle accident on I-95 near Bryant Park in Richmond, Virginia (VA), claimed the life of one man and left several other people hospitalized with serious injuries. According to reports, the chain-reaction crash started shortly after midnight on October 26, 2014, when a black sedan struck an SUV in the southbound lanes of the interstate. The at-fault driver immediately drove off, while the larger vehicle run across the median and ended up in the path of oncoming traffic.
A car then crashed into the SUV, killing the driver of the car. A fourth vehicle could not avoid that secondary wreck. All the other people in the cars and the SUV survived, but the passenger in the car in which the driver lost his life sustained life-threating injuries.
Law enforcement officials continued searching for the person who set off the fatal accident into Monday. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who may know the identity of the at-fault driver is being urged to call the Virginia State Police at (804) 553-3445.
Identifying the person who wounded so many individuals and took another's life is important. Anyone who commits such a crime and causes so much suffering must be held to account in both criminal and civil proceedings. While tracking down hit-and-run drivers can be difficult, my Virginia Beach-based personal injury and wrongful death attorney colleagues know from other cases we have handled that doing so is possible. We hope authorities find the person who bears responsibility for the Richmond wreck, and we offer our sincere condolences to the friends and family members of the deceased victim.
