According to WWAY3 News, a horrible hit-and-run accident took the life of a tow truck driver on November 4, 2012. The accident occurred on Carolina Beach Road near McQuillian in Wilmington, NC. A woman had called AAA for assistance. The tow truck driver had exited his truck and was walking to her car when a truck crashed into him and kept going. Several witnesses called 911, but the victim was not able to be saved. The driver who fled the crash scene was caught and has allegedly been convicted of DUI eight times and has lost his license eleven times. He has also been accused of hit-and-run on two other occasions.
The North Carolina Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:
It is disheartening to those of us who practice personal injury law to hear of another victim losing his life because of a drunk driver who has been convicted several times, yet continues to drive a car while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The district attorney handling the case said the at-fault driver’s long list of convictions and driving infractions may help to put him behind bars for a long time. In the meantime, the victim’s family is forced to deal with the emotional and financial strains that come with losing a loved one in a truck accident that could have been prevented. We hope they find an experienced North Carolina truck accident attorney to help them through this difficult process.
Potentially Helpful Info:
